ROHM Introduces Subminiature SMD LED PicoLED

ROHM introduces the ultra-small LED "SML-P12 Series" (PicoLED) with the smallest size and area in the world for products such as mobile phone buttons, small dot matrix displays, and small seven-segment displays. The product has been sampling since January 2007 (sample price is about 6.5 yuan / piece), and mass production began in April 2007 with a monthly production capacity of 10 million. It is planned to be manufactured at ROHM WAKO, ROHM SEMICONDUCTOR CHINA, ROHM WAKO MALAYSIA.
In recent years, mobile phones and electronic devices have been continuously miniaturized. The buttons and seven-segment displays of mobile phones and small dot matrix displays mostly use the industry standard 1608 (0603) specification (1.6mm x 0.8mm) small chip LEDs. The SML-P12 Series (Pico LED) series released this time uses ROHM's unique three technologies: component technology, ultra-precision machining technology and ultra-small and thin packaging technology to achieve 0.2mm that could not be achieved due to the sharp drop in brightness. The thickness is reduced by 53% on the basis of maintaining the original brightness. Compared with 1608 (0603), the volume is reduced by 74%, which improves the situation in which LEDs are not available in a narrow space. Existing products such as the buttons of mobile phones can also save space and make the mobile phone more compact. The LED can also be arranged into a high-density liquid crystal matrix with a pitch of 1.5mm, which is most suitable for small-sized, high-definition LED full-color displays such as car audio. It is also possible to use a light source for a seven-segment display with a character height of 0.2 inches, which makes the application of the digital display wider.

Luminous red, orange, yellow, green, blue, white and other full-color listings, can be used for all models. The luminescent material uses high-reliability InGaAIP and high-intensity IngaN to keep your products safe for a long time.
