Vishay's new high-brightness multi-SMD tri-color LED with independent color control

Vishay has introduced a new multi-SMD tri-color LED with a wide range of light intensity and independent color control. The VLMRGB343.. multi-SMD tri-color LED is a high-brightness device that individually controls red, green and blue LED chips for demanding and efficient applications. The device is a black surface that is compatible with all video standards and is available in a small PLCC-4 package with a footprint of 3.2mm x 2.8mm and a thickness of only 1.8mm for board space savings.



The new LED is optimized for backlighting and lighting in automotive and transportation, consumer and general applications. Typical uses will include instrument panel lighting and courtesy lights; interior navigation lights and perimeter lights; signage and instruction maps; appliances, toys, games and mobile phones; architectural and interior lighting ; lighting for retail and window displays, museums and showrooms ; machine vision system.

The VLMRGB343.. provides a 60° half-intensity angle and is compatible with the IR reflow process. The device has been preconditioned according to the JEDEC Moisture Sensitivity Level 2 standard and is RoHS compliant. The LED is certified to the AEC-Q101 automotive standard and is RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC compliant.

Samples of VLMRGB343.. multi-SMD tri-color LEDs are available now. Production quantities will begin in September 2007, with lead times of six weeks for larger orders.
