Ligitek Datong builds new plant to increase LED output by 3 times

LED packaging company Ligitek Electronics is building a new plant in Datong Technology Park, with a total investment of NT$1 billion. The company expects the new plant to help increase the monthly production of triple-surface-mounted LEDs.

Ligitek CEO Jackson Torng said the company's goal is to increase the monthly production of surface mount LEDs from 20 to 30 million chips to 60-70 million chips by 2009. Production is mainly used in flat panel display applications and general lighting. The company has begun to supply small quantities of high-power LEDs to China and Europe.

Subsidiaries will bring more than NT$100 million to Ligitek's revenue in May. In the current strong order period, it is even possible to exceed NT$200 million. Ligitek's total revenue in April was NT$151 million, an increase of 60.7% over the same period last year. But it was slightly lower than the 160 million revenue in March of the same year. April's revenue was mainly affected by the shortage of materials used to manufacture solar module business.
