ROHM's flat LED lighting panels with high color rendering LED packages were exhibited at the "CEATEC JAPAN 2012" held at the MESEE International Convention and Exhibition Center on October 2-6, 2012. This panel covers LEDs arranged on a flat surface with a light diffusion plate, and can realize surface light emission like organic EL lighting. Its characteristic is that, with the help of ROHM's phosphor technology, while the average color rendering index (Ra) reaches 98 with high color rendering, it also prevents the lead frame vulcanization that will cause the color rendering to deteriorate.
In the LED package, the silver plating layer on the lead frame of the LED chip usually reacts (sulfides) with hydrogen sulfide in the air invading through the sealing material and becomes black, resulting in a gradual decrease in color rendering. The LED package developed by ROHM prevents vulcanization by providing a white resin layer that reflects light between the sealing material and the lead frame, thereby suppressing the decrease in color rendering. In addition, the heat resistance is also improved, and the life at 110 ° C reaches 50,000 hours (the time when the luminous flux drops to 70%). This lighting panel uses special LEDs. Although the luminous efficiency has not been announced, Roma said that "cost and luminous efficiency are better than organic EL lighting." Although the practical time is not yet determined, the technology is basically mature. In the future, Roma will discuss with its subsidiary AGLED (Headquarters: Itami City, Hyogo Prefecture) to launch products as soon as possible.
ROHM can be divided into four major areas in the field of LED lighting: LED lighting chips, LED driver chips, LED related control and logic, and solutions and reference designs. At present, the LED light source chips that Roma can provide include resin substrate-encapsulated COB light sources, ceramic substrate COB light sources, high-power white LEDs, high-brightness and heat-dissipation LEDs, and high-brightness full-color LEDs.
In addition, in the overall LED solution, ROHM not only provides components, but also provides corresponding electrical knowledge references. It also includes structural design, heat dissipation countermeasures, insulation countermeasures, and light source light path design. For the overall smart home construction, it also provides an intelligent control solution consisting of ground detection and Zigbee control IC and EEPROM.
